Map Converter

Most people think that converting PG2 maps pictures to Peoples S16 format is tricky or tedious, and although some good solutions have been made by Mark Kirby - the first on doing a batch converter -  and later Robert Devore and others, I thought  it woukld be nice to have a windows wrapper to avoid editing nanually a set of lines oˇinto a script.
 

So this tool was made, to easy convert all Shp files found in a folder allocating as S16 files on another folder. Of course source and destination can be the same folder.

Icons files can be converted the same way, and that's the reason I deliver two releases:
 
  • 1.03 uses Frd's tools so it can convert any Shp file into a S16 one
  • 1.20 does not need any external tol, but it can only handle picture map Shp files, not icon files.
 To install, just unzip the executable wherever you prefer, that's the only installation needed. A minimal screen resolution of 800x600 is recomended and as usual with all my tools, it uses registry to "remember" your last settings

 

Version 1.03

     Uses Fred Chlanda's utilities

This release uses Fred Chlanda converter utility and PG2 palette file. and so it can convert any Shp file, map picture or icon
It creates an intermediate BAT file to do the job..
How to use
  1. Place all SHP files you want to convert on a temporary folder and run the tool.
  2. Select the folder you have used, you will see all files you have copied there.
  3. If Fred utility and palette is not found on selected folder, it is told and you will only create the BAT file but no convertion will be available.
  4. Press buttons "Look Freds tool" and "Look PG2 palette" to find their locations.
  5. Answer YES when it ask for copying into selected folder (or do it manually)
  6. Optionaly, set if you want to delete SHP files when finishing (not checked as default)
  7. Select "Create BAT file ONLY" radio option is provided in case you dont want to make convertion later or in case you want to see first what will be done. By default second choice is selected. Either case the BAT file is created if you press OK

 

Version 1.20

     Does not use Fred Chlanda's utilities

This release does not use Fred Chlanda converter utility neither PG2 palette file, but it can convert only Shp ěcture map files
It does not use any intermediate BAT file to do the job
How to use
  1. Place all SHP files you want to convert on a temporary folder and run the tool.
  2. Select the folder you have used, you will see all files you have copied there.
  3. You can select  to convert only those files not existing already on destination folder
  4. Anyway you'll see only the files that will be converted, so check On and OFF to see the differences
  5. Pres OK button to execute convertion

 

Thanks to Fred Chlanda for his utilities, without his brilliant tools we would had much difficult.
